DESCRIPTION:Join The Dusty Halos for an evening of warmly-sung songs of melancholia as they release their second EP\, Keep Us This Night. \nThe Dusty Halos combine the textures of fingerstyle guitar\, upright bass\, and sweet and crunchy harmonies. Since forming in 2022\, the Halifax-based folk duo has garnered attention for their songcraft and intimate vocal chemistry. Their songs explore the interplay of light and darkness\, finding solace in the shadows. \nWith a set of evocative country-folk from singer-songwriter Thomas McCallum\, and opening pipe organ improvisations by John Bogardus. \n

Anthony Granelli with the Creative Music Workshop faculty\nwith the CMW Faculty and special guests including: Ross Burns\, Doug Cameron\, Susanne Chui\, Jackson Fairfax-Perry\, Nicholas Maclean\, Andrew MacKelvie\nPlease come and join us for this special weekend-long Micro CMW. Over the weekend we will be checking in with core ideas and exploring some new ways to use the tools we have practiced. \nOn Saturday\, we will continue to explore the creative process principles and exercises and how they relate to spontaneous composition. On Sunday\, we will begin to explore the intersection of freedom and form. Can we find ways to create form and play in forms freely—what does that mean\, and is there room for a preset form in spontaneous composition. \nLots of questions\, lots of playing\, and lots of seeing what will happen! SUMMARY:Halifax Rättvik Trio
DESCRIPTION:Musique Royale announces five performances by the Halifax Rättvik Trio part of its 40th anniversary Summer Festival. Featuring Jennifer Publicover (flutes); Peter Rousu (guitar\, bass)\, and Stefan Ekedahl (cello\, spelpipor\, bagpipes)\, the trio is a trans-Atlantic collaboration and exploration of the folk genres of Sweden and Canada\, including diversions to geographical points in between! Performing music from their new album Havet\, concerts will include lots of polskas and Swedish tunes of various types\, with original compositions of Peter’s\, and tunes Quebec and the Maritimes. Maritimers who enjoy Celtic-type genres will find this a delightful and fresh new soundscape to explore! \nPart of Musique Royale’s 40th Summer Festival\, the Halifax Rättvik Trio’s tour invites audiences to discover Nova Scotia’s historic venues with performances in Johnstown\, Antigonish\, Parrsboro\, Bell Island and Halifax.
