DESCRIPTION:This legendary local blues man has a new CD and is celebrating with a launch party at Bearley’s House of Blues & Ribs \nJoe Murphy has been a fixture in the East Coast blues scene for the past 40 years. He got his start sitting in with Dutch Mason in 1972 and played harp and guitar on Dutchie’s last album\, Half Ain’t Been Told. He also played harmonica on Garrett Mason’s Juno award winning “I’m Just A Man\,” and has played with most of the blues acts who have come east in the last thirty years.\n\nHis Water Street Blues Band has backed up Otis Rush\, Johnnie Johnson\, Johnny Sansone\, Kenny ‘Blues Boss’ Wayne and the late great Pinetop Perkins\, just to name a few. Joe’s most memorable gigs include playing harp for three nights with John Lee Hooker and a wonderful week playing harp for Sunnyland Slim. \nHe has 5 CD’s – two with his Water Street Blues Band and two side projects\, one with Johnny Sansone and his latest\, She Moves Me\, featuring Bhrath Rajukumar. Joe and his band also have had one of the longest running blues matinees in Halifax\, playing every Saturday at Your Father’s Mustache for the last 21 years.

Their utter devotion to country music could be described as a problem\, especially if you were to ask their loved ones. They play a wide range of hillbilly favourites from 50s\, 60s and 70s\, along with some true-to-form originals scattered throughout their set. Al Forbes sings\, Kye Ehresman sits on kit\, Rheo Rochon stands on bass\, the great Phil Sedore plays Telecaster and Dave Campbell makes the pedal steel shimmer. \n\nBill Ricky is an alt-country outfit from Halifax\, Nova Scotia. Taking inspiration from traditional country and folk\, they have a unique knack for songwriting and delivering high-energy performances. Their music combines heartfelt acoustic waltzing with boot-stomping woman-rock. Since their live debut in 2023\, the group has encouraged folks near and far to shine their boots and hit the dance floor. Riding the high of their debut EP release\, Bill Ricky is serving country all over the East Coast of Canada.
