DESCRIPTION:Winner of the 2026 Cecilia Concerts Developing Musician Award\, Halifax pianist Alex Yang brings extraordinary poise\, depth\, and command to a demanding and wide-ranging solo program. \nStill only 17\, Alex has already earned national and international attention for playing marked by clarity\, sensitivity\, and strong musical insight.​ His program brings together the architecture and brilliance of J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in D Major from “The Well-Tempered Clavier\,” Book II\, the emotional range and shifting character of Chopin’s complete 24 Preludes\, Op. 28\, the dramatic force and spiritual depth of Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor\, Op. 111\, and the dazzling virtuosity and colour of Liszt’s Rhapsodie Espagnole.​ \nAlex studies at the Juilliard Pre-College and has already earned major recognition on both sides of the border\, including a full fellowship to the Aspen Music Festival and School\, first prize in the Juilliard Pre-College Concerto Competition\, and selection as the 2026 Debut Atlantic Award for Musical Excellence for a second consecutive year. \nThis ​choose-what-you-pay​ concert offers Halifax audiences the chance to hear one of Canada’s most exciting young pianists at a remarkable moment in his artistic development. \nSeason Sponsor: Nice Moves / Red Door Realty.
