SUMMARY:Rankin's Winter Warmers
DESCRIPTION:Winter is long\, but it doesn’t have to feel that way…  \nRankin MacInnis is a Maritime musician with a unique kind of show. \nSaturday afternoons in Halifax have become synonymous with “Rankin’s Winter Warmers” at The Marquee. \n\nFrom January to March\, MacInnis makes the trip from Mabou\, Cape Breton\, to Halifax to host what has become one the most popular events in the city. \n“Speaking of Cape Breton\, the concept\, I think\, kind of developed in the way I would have been developed in Mabou\, with kitchen parties and the sharing of music\,” he says. \nMacInnis always wears a hockey jersey during his performances and does everything from singing to playing the bagpipes. \nHe not only takes the stage with his eight-piece band\, but is joined each week by special guests. \n“Jimmy Rankin has been on the stage\, Carmen Townsand\, (The) Town Heroes\,” MacInnis says. \nThe shows welcome people of all ages. \n“The older we get\, the more perfect it is\,” jokes MacInnis. \n“Rankin’s Winter Warmers” has become so popular it won best event at the 2023 Music Nova Scotia Awards and MacInnis took home the prize for Entertainer of the Year as well. \n“It was a big moment\,” he says. \nFor those who haven’t experienced the concert series yet\, MacInnis says there is still time\, with three weeks and four shows left. \nMacInnis adds the shows are “for everyone.” \n“Mostly upbeat\, all fun music\, but we do our best to celebrate all genres\,” he says. “So even if you only like a certain amount\, it’s like the same as like the weather in Scotland\, just wait five minutes and you’ll get something different.” — CTV \nTickets $28.50

SUMMARY:Blue Lobelia
DESCRIPTION:Cloud Strawberry Mermaid PInk\nNew album and interactive performance. Come breathe\, journal\, move together and listen to this blend of voices\, strings and piano. \n\n\n\n\nBlending voices\, strings and piano\, Blue Lobelia’s album release invites the audience to excavate emotion through sound and movement. \nBlue Lobelia’s latest ensemble project [Blanche Israël (cello / voice) // Joss MacNeil (voice) // Mat Hughes (piano / voice)] titled\, ‘cloud strawberry mermaid pink’\, presents as a lush interactive ritual rooted in her background as a music therapist. \nThis dreamy\, embodied performance unravels us from our conditioning\, guiding audiences through portals of somatic memory and emotional excavation with opportunities for simple repetitive guided movements and written reflection. \nHer new songs rely on the belief that time spirals and that gut feelings are guiding whispers from our future selves\, echoing backward into now. \nThrough movement\, journaling\, breathwork and sound\, cloud strawberry mermaid pink blurs the line between concert and ceremony\, music and theater\, inviting you to feel\, remember\, and unravel. It is a spell for intuition and the unending act of becoming. \nBring your own journal and pen or purchase a cute one for $10 at the venue! Movement and breathwork is optional <3 Music begins at 8pm \nTickets & info
