DESCRIPTION:There is a human life behind every piece of art. \nOn April 19th\, join us for the grand finale of our season! We are continuing to explore the Transition to Modern Times theme with a huge program of chamber music that bridges the gap between the old world and the new. \nWhat to expect:Live Piano Trio Concert: Soul Strings Ensemble appears as a trio featuring Hartmut Richter (violin)\, Joseph Dowell (piano)\, and myself (Anna Shabalina\, cello & stories).\nIconic Compositions & Hidden Gems: We will perform works by Dvorak\, Rachmaninov\, Skryabin\, Debussy\, Piazzolla\, Villa-Lobos\, and more. \nWoven Stories: I’ll share informal stories about the composers’ lives and how they navigated a changing world.\nSocial Time: After the music and during the intermission\, please stay for light refreshments\, snacks\, and a chance to connect. \nThe entire event\, including stories and intermission\, will be around 2 hours. This is a thoughtful and social way to experience classical music. Blending folk\, blues\, gospel\, and Eastern European influences\, his music often feels less like a performance and more like a shared ritual—songs shaped by breath\, silence\, poetry\, and raw emotion. \nSince releasing his latest album\, The Flood\, he has been busy with national and international touring with the band including sold out shows with Symphony Nova Scotia and headlining the Light House Arts Centre.
