The Halifax-based The Brickworks is a jazz, funk, and soul band known for their high-energy live shows and “big band” sound when augmented with a horn section.
Band Style & Repertoire
Originating from a weekly jazz gig at the former Hopyard on Gottingen street, The Brickworks blend the sounds of ’60s-’80s blues and soul classics, covering artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie King, Sam Cooke, and Stevie Wonder, and occasionally modern hits like Beyoncé’s “Love on Top”. They are particularly known for their energetic sets at local venues and for their “Jazz Brunches”.
