Brahms: a German requiem

Sunday March 1 @ 2:00 pm
$30

Join us for a special collaboration between Nova Sinfonia and Dalhousie Collegium Cantoruman as we present Johannes Brahms’ A German Requiem, one of the great choral-orchestral masterpieces of the Romantic era. Unlike the traditional Latin Requiem Mass, Brahms’ work is a deeply human meditation on grief, comfort, and hope, setting German biblical texts that speak directly to the living.

Under the direction of conductor Gary Ewer, this moving performance brings together orchestra and chorus in a work of remarkable emotional depth and luminous warmth. We are delighted to welcome the Dalhousie Collegium Cantorum as our guest ensemble, whose artistry adds richness and power to this unforgettable score.

From its opening words, “Blessed are they that mourn,” to its serene and consoling conclusion, A German Requiem offers solace, dignity, and a transcendent sense of peace—an experience that resonates long after the final note!
