This website is the work of the geezer on the left, blowing on an alto sax in a community jazz concert in Halifax. Cool tie, eh? Too bad about the solo.
I started the site because I kept hearing people complain they didn’t know when their favourite jazz musicians were playing. In one case three of Halifax’s top sax players organized a gig in a local restaurant but didn’t bother publicizing it. We found out through a friend.
This site is the result of that frustration. I spend a couple of hours every week combing through Facebook, Instagram and various websites to learn what’s happening. Right now I favour local jazz bands, but add in a lot of classical and folk music that I think jazz enthusiasts may want to know about.
You can post your own gigs by clicking on the Add Your Event link above. Your information will go up as soon as I have a chance to check it. You can also help by sharing listings you like with your friends– look for the social media links at the bottom of every event. the more people using it, the more effective it will be.
